11-16 years? Join our NEW Acting Class in Manchester City Centre. First Class is FREE
We’re delighted to launch our regular Manchester acting class for ages 11-16. The class will run from our Manchester City Centre venue.
Acting coach and Drama Practitioner Helen Sherwood will be delivering the class. Helen is a trained actor and experienced drama teacher. Classes run on a Thursday evening from 7.00-8.30pm at The Friend’s Meeting House, just off Manchester Town Hall.
The focus of the Youth Acting Class will be on developing and enhancing acting skills through creative work, whilst also developing social and communication skills, confidence, team work and precise drama skills and techniques, which will be applied to both devised pieces and script work. There will be tailored and focused warm ups, followed by drama activities designed to encourage exploration and experimentation and to hone detailed characterisation skills through voice and physicality.
Helen has taught Drama in Secondary Schools for the last 9 years, both in Manchester and internationally in Mexico, teaching up to A-level Drama and Theatre Studies and BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts. Her students have gained places at drama schools, including: Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Guildford School of Acting and Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Helen has directed many productions, including for the Shakespeare School’s Festival where her work was praised for the energy, fun, commitment and highly professional standard. Helen enjoys and has been commended for always bringing out the very best in all her students.
