About Thinking Actors
Thinking Actors provides Creative Support Services and Continued Professional Development (CPD) for actors and creatives – at all stages of their career.
We run professional training and workshops at MediaCityUK (Salford Quays) and Liverpool. Our support services include actor and presenter showreels and self-tapes.
STAGE ONE, our Youth Acting Class, was launched in Manchester in September 2017. Lead by Helen Sherwood, we work with talented young people from 11-16 years.
We also provide bespoke training for the Corporate and Education sector. In 2017, we delivered team building Film & Television workshops to over a thousand young people.
Company Director and Lead Practitioner Peter Carroll is a trained actor and qualified teacher with over twenty years of experience working as a drama practitioner and workshop facilitator. Peter is a graduate of Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan. He also trained with The Actors’ Workshop Theatre, Chicago. Peter is a registered member of the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Thinking Actors provides a supportive, experiential learning environment to help clients to develop and refine their skill base. As part of that process, we use Ultra High Definition broadcast equipment to aid performance evaluation. Unlike many other providers, our approach is immersive.
“Our work centres on both script and improvisation to explore and refine performance. I like to work using a range of approaches from Stanislavski to Meisner. All classes and workshops are highly structured and purposeful learning events. It’s about cutting through to the heart of things and finding your truth. As a key focus is about preparing actors for castings and paid employment, we also look at cold reading and audition technique as well as aspects of marketing and branding”.
We work with some of the industry’s top practitioners – and have established and evolving links with agents, the independent film, theatre and television industries. Visiting professionals have included actors Karen Henthorn, Graham Eaglesham and Nicola Redman. Joanne Moss, at ITV Casting, is a recently welcomed guest to our team of great workshop providers.
