The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester has a programme of interactive shows, workshops and other learning activities for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.

There are 12 activities in the Schools’ Programme, ranging from free to paid-for events.

Creative Science: Seeing Sounds

 £5 per pupil introductory offer

Fun, vibrant and surprising, this morning of structured activities will challenge students to explore the concepts of sound waves in a cross-curricular, creative context, working as part of team and reflecting real working practices.

In this energetic, fun and investigative science show, your pupils will learn how to think scientifically and harness the energy of explosions.

Lively, upbeat and humorous with lots of surprises—this show uses audience participation to communicate the key principles of electricity, while challenging the children to make their own discoveries.

This surprising science show conveys the principles of light through audience participation and experimentation. It encourages pupils to explain their own findings, and challenges their expectations.

This high-energy, mischievous show inspires curiosity, drawing out questions about real-life figures and basic engineering concepts and celebrating creativity and invention.

In this live demonstration of our historic machinery, we’ll show your pupils how steam engines work and teach them about the history of power.

Little Local Heroes: Counting Chaos

Meet Joseph Green, Station Master at the Liverpool Road Railway Station. He counts every object that travels in and out of the station. From tasty fruit to mischievous sheep, every day is a challenge. However, today is different—he’s got our help!
