Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre is launching a brand new opportunity for recent fine art graduates who specialise in Moving Image from the UK’s university art schools to show their work.
The aim of the exhibitions is to profile the best work with a Fine Art emphasis – in video/film art – emerging from the university art schools in the UK and offer new visual arts graduates a high-quality professional development opportunity.
Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre is committed to investing in the next generation of Moving Image Artists we will be showing the 10 best entries in our Moving Image Gallery from 25th November 2017 to 27th January 2018, we are also offering a £250 award to the overall winner.
Please note this competition is now closed, but exhibition dates commence from 25th November 2017 to 27th January 2018.
Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for this opportunity if you graduated or are graduating at BA, MA or PhD in the years 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018. Artwork must have a Fine Art practice orientation.
The Exhibition
The exhibition will take place at the Moving Image Gallery at Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre from 25th November to 27th January. Artworks will be selected in October 2017 following the initial application process.
Deadline
The deadline for applications is 5pm, Monday 23rd October 2017.
Application Process
Complete the form with your contact details and outlining the title, media, date and format of each of the artworks submitted (including any specific technical or display requirements of the work).
Artist’s statement (500 words maximum) – This statement should include information about your artistic practice and describe the works you have submitted as part of your application (maximum of 3 works, single channel, each work lasting no more than 20 minutes). Please send work that best represents your practice as weblinks to Vimeo or YouTube NOT screenshots. Please remember to give your images legible file names.
Submitting Your Application
Please submit your application form by email ensuring you include hyperlinks to your Vimeo or YouTube sites to s.lord@bury.gov.uk
Once your application has been confirmed as received please submit the application fee of £10 via the Bury Council payment page, ensuring your reference your full name and the email address which you applied with. Applicants that have not made the £10 payment will not be processed. Please note that this payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Successful applicants will then be contacted and asked to send the curator a link to download the video via WeTransfer or Dropbox
We regret that Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre is unable to respond to unsuccessful applications individually.
Selection will take place in October/November and only successful applicants will be informed. If you have not had a response by 20th November please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
