Knowl Hill Circular

Exploring the wind farms on Scout Moor!

Ashworth Moor Reservoir – Knowl Hill – Naden Reservoirs – Hail Stone Hill – Scout Moor – Cheesden Pasture – Ashworth Moor Reservoir

GRADE: MEDIUM

Distance: 17km

Max elevation: 474m

Welcome to Freshwalks, bringing together North West business people, this time on the moors above Rochdale.

Starting at the famously haunted Owd Betts pub opposite Ashworth Moor reservoir this fantastic route explores the wind farms on Scout Moor. This walk initially takes you up to the trig point on Knowl Hill before dropping through Naden reservoirs. The route then heads steadily uphill again, passing Top of Pike before reaching the highest point of the Forest of Rossendale at Hailstorm Hill.

We then begin the descent back down Cheesden Pasture towards our starting point. Prepare for some breathtaking views that stretch as far as the Cheshire plain on these less beaten than usual paths.

This walk will be led by John Knott, director of Zola Systems.

Don’t forget, you will need to bring some water and a packed lunch for a halfway stop.

Hope you can join us, Michael.
