Digital Cities 2020: Lessons from a social media storm

What do you do when your mentions are a mess? Join Rising Arts Agency for an interactive conversation and insight into reclaiming joy amongst trolling and harassment.

In July 2020, Rising Arts Agency hosted a citywide billboard campaign asking the question “Whose Future?”.

Showcasing artwork by 37 diverse young artists across 370 sites, the campaign tackled issues from Black Lives Matter to climate change, wellbeing and access.

What began as a joyous celebration championing young people’s voices was turned on its head when one artwork caught the attention of white nationalists.

Join Elinor Lower and Emma Blake Morsi for an interactive conversation as they dissect what happened, why, and what you can do to protect joy and creativity online.

Elinor Lower is a writer and theatre maker, and the Creative Practice Coordinator of Rising Arts Agency.

Emma Blake Morsi is an award-winning, multidisciplinary arts producer and is Non-Exec Director of Rising Arts Agency.
