CoderDojo Harrogate is a friendly place to meet and develop your coding and tech skills or learn something new. They run informal sessions where Ninjas (children from 7-17) and families can come along and work on projects, develop new skills, participate in challenges, whatever you want. They’re here to provide guidance, encouragement & support in a relaxed environment.
Usually they meet at the Everyman in Harrogate, but during the UK lockdown (and possibly beyond) they’re meeting online! Please join them from home by using Discord where you can chat with mentors & other Ninjas, get ideas, or request help (via chat, video or screen-sharing) – register now and get the Discord link before the session starts – they have a guide to setting up Discord here.
Feel free to drop in and out during the session, work on an existing project, learn something new, show them your cool coding projects or just see what’s going on. If there’s anything you’d particuarly like to learn, email them in advance and they’ll try and prepare something! harrogate.uk@coderdojo.com
Check out their latest blog entry for more ideas to code at home.
Please note:
- You will need to use your own computer (laptop, desktop or maybe even an iPad or other tablet)
- Some ideas. If you have a great idea, they’ll help you develop and code it. If you’re a bit stuck, they’ll help you with some project ideas.
- A parent! (very important). If you are 12 or under, your parent should join you for the session and be aware that you are joining online. Please stay safe! They welcome parents to join in too – either by helping with ideas or maybe even coding their own projects!
- (Optionally) some refreshments – since you’re at home, help yourselves to drinks and snacks!
