An international event bringing together the most influential people from across the media and digital sectors.

Today’s children are the first generation to grow up in a fully digital world. Every morning, children across the globe wake up to a wave of new content, opinions and ideas, bringing opportunities and challenges different to anything that has come before.

Content producers, technology providers and policy makers must make sure that children are able to ride that wave, not be washed away by it.  Now is the time to come together and make the next set of big decisions needed to ensure children’s media remains pivotal in the lives of young audiences for another generation.

Five themes; innovation, freedom, empowerment, entertainment and education will inform the sessions at the summit, all of which are trying to answer one big question, what role can, and should, media play in the lives of children across the globe?

The Children’s Global Media Summit 2017 will gather the people who have the power to make change; from policy makers, digital platforms, content providers, games companies and producers of entertainment, news, sport, educational and children’s media.

The sessions will be a mixture of keynote speeches, masterclasses, debates and workshops featuring some of the biggest names across media, politics and digital industries including CEO’s, thought leaders, global innovators and creative visionaries.

If you want a part in helping shape a better digital world for kids, then get in touch.

Please see travel details on Manchester central’s website.

Over the three-day Summit, sessions and keynotes will focus on five key themes: Innovation, Empowerment, Freedom, Entertainment and Education.

  • Keynotes, panels and world-class research exploring the biggest questions in children’s media
  • Insightful, influential and in-demand speakers from media and beyond
  • Exhibitors showcasing content and technology

The Summit was founded in 1995 in order to help secure the future of children’s programming in a rapidly-changing world.

Formerly known as the ‘World Summit on Media for Children’, the Summit is held every three years, beginning in Australia.

London was the host city in 1998 and the last city to host the Summit was Kuala Lumpur in 2014.

For the first time, the content of the event is being curated by the BBC who are working with a group of broadcast partners, academic institutions and policymakers to create a rich and unique programme of content which reflects the world of media through the eyes of a young global audience.
