Bolton Film Festival: Short Films by Students & Film-makers

Bolton Film Festival returns for 2020 in  October.

Bolton Film Festival are seeking out innovative and groundbreaking short films from independent film-makers. Whether it’s drama, documentary, animation, comedy, community, VR or experimental film our aim is to showcase emerging talent to an audience of like-minded individuals and industry experts. Submissions end in September!

Bolton Film Festival is primarily focused on nurturing talent, we’re non-profit so any excess money generated from the film festival will be put back into delivering free media talks and workshops within the community.

Our patron Maxine Peake is supported by a stella line up of industry professionals including 4 x BAFTA winner Colin Pons, BAFTA winning writer Chris Lunt, BAFTA and Emmy award winning animation creative Bridget Appleby, Olivier award winning TV/Film and Theatre director David Thacker (Octagon Theatre/Bolton University) and many more illustrious industry jurors.

Our industry talks are free to attend, last year we were joined by students from UTC Media City, Salford University, Bolton University and Bolton College as well as a good turn out from film-makers and the public.
