Manchester CoderDojo Digital Cities Special
Manchester CoderDojo is a volunteer-led community group for young people aged eight and upwards to code and be creative.
When: Sunday 12th November, 11:00 to 15:00

SharpFutures at The Sharp Project is hosting this special Digital Cities Manchester edition of Manchester CoderDojo.
As part of the global CoderDojo network, Manchester CoderDojo will let you:
- develop your coding skills
- get access to platforms such as Scratch, Python and Roblox
- try out Sonic Pi, Little Bits and BBC Microbits kit
- be creative and collaborative

Monday 13 November: Digital Skills Day
BBC Academy: Digital Skills Day
Free training including a guide to live streaming, making films on your smartphone and tips on building audiences for social media, presented by industry experts.

There will be a range of workshops exploring the latest in digital content and how to tell fantastic stories across different platforms.
The workshops are suitable for both experienced professionals wanting to brush up on their digital skills and new entrants to the business. They will let you:
- get insights into how to live-stream to both professional and social media platforms with our essential guide
- make YouTube and Facebook work for you
- make APPSolutely amazing content with a hands-on session using apps for creating quality short-form content
- discover how storytelling is adapting to new digital platforms
- build audiences for social media
- film high-quality content on your smartphone
- take a tech tour with the BBC Blue Room
- get access to the Google Digital Garage and hear from experts on how to reach new audiences online
A ticket gives you access to the keynote session at the beginning of the day. We’ll ask you to choose your workshops in the morning and afternoon via the order form when you book.

Tuesday 14 November: Smart Futures Day
Producing for Online: 10 Things You Need to Know
How does the shift in content consumption from broadcast to online affect you and the content you create?
When: Tuesday 14 November, 10:00 to 13.00

In this keynote lecture from Mark Harrison, managing director of the DPP (Digital Production Partnership), you will:
- get insights into DPP’s recent work with online experts such as Fulwell 73, maker of Carpool Karaoke, and Silverback Films, producer of Netflix’s Our Planet series
- hear about the DDP’s research with Facebook, Google, Netflix and Apple
- learn about the recent consumer trends from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES)
- get tips on how to produce content for online platforms
Following on from the DPP keynote lecture, you will get a chance to meet two of its members, Setkeeper and Limecraft. They’ll be demonstrating some of the latest innovations in production workflow techniques, tools and software.
